My name is Scott. I have long been an advocate for others and I have coached individuals and teams from the athletic field to the boardroom and back to the classroom. In 2015, I made my own career adjustment, pursuing a career in counseling psychology. Since that point I have been working as a Nationally Certified Counselor, supporting primarily high school and college students. Through this work, I have become obsessed with adaptations in the workforce on a macro level, and how we as individuals can adapt to be more successful on a micro level. I know from experience that there is a disconnect with our formal education system and it's ability to support would be graduates with career awareness, exploration, and experience.
For that reason, I now work with young and mid career professionals who may be feeling stuck or lost on their current vocational track to identify and achieve their personal and career goals. This is done by emphasizing and exploring individual identity, unique values and personal truths, and envisioning the authoring of the individual career story. Owning the narrative, regardless of perceived success or failure, is critical in writing the next chapter. Otherwise, this story gets written for us, often in ways that run in conflict with our passions, values, and aspirations.
I take great pride in the progress and success of my clients, because I too have been in a position where my story was being written while I watched passively from the sidelines. I know it is easy to be complacent and passive in life and career. It took me a year of deep introspection and support from others to get off the sidelines and into the arena, so I could take action on my own narrative. The result of this work (let's call this what it is) was a major career shift and a deeper awareness of the intersection between career and life. We are all human beings with real and perceived vulnerabilities and fears that prevent us from taking action. I want to help you understand these natural tendencies, own your story, and pick up the (proverbial) pen to start taking action. If you think you are ready to to find your why, let's connect!
"When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending."
